The Newfoundland and Labrador Genealogical Society (NLGS) is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to developing and providing genealogical information on Newfoundland and Labrador.

NLGS's Labrador collection contains cemetery records from 37 communities from all over Labrador, with headstone inscriptions from more than 60 cemeteries. There is also a collection of Them Days: Stories of Early Labrador, as well as a small number of books on early life in Labrador. NLGS also has an extensive collection of headstone inscriptions from cemeteries in hundreds of communities on the island of Newfoundland, which sometimes refer to genealogical data related to Labrador. This information is located at NLGS's Resource Centre at 354 Water Street in St. John's, Newfoundland, which is open five days a week. The telephone number is 709-754-9525.

Membership in the society costs $30.00 annually. Members have a reduced rate on database searches and are entitled to four copies of the journal Newfoundland Ancestor, to which they may submit articles and inquiries for publication at no cost. The mailing address is: Newfoundland & Labrador Genealogical Society, Colonial Building, Military Road, St. John's, NL, A1C 2C9.
